The Story Behind Numinous

Numinous emerged from real healthcare and student realities seen through Ekam Foundation's work, with a focus on helping nursing students transition confidently into employment.

Our deep roots in community healthcare and education spanning over a decade have given us firsthand insight into why talented graduates struggle to find placements.

We recognise that although they have the right intent and strong dedication, formal education alone does not build the practical, professional and emotional readiness that the healthcare industry demands.

Our commitment is to strengthen the transition from classroom to professional practice and to build emotional resilience in nursing professionals.

Where it began

The Numinous story did not start with a business plan. It started with a pattern that was hard to ignore.

Through years of community health work, Ekam Foundation kept meeting the same story: nursing graduates with strong academic results but real anxiety about their first day in a hospital. The gap was not in knowledge - it was in readiness. In confidence. In having someone to turn to.

Colleges were doing their part, but mentorship was limited. Hospitals expected competence from day one. Students were caught in between - qualified on paper, unsupported in practice.

That conviction became Numinous—a structured, mentorship-led program designed to close the readiness gap. Not by replacing colleges, but by adding a layer of support that did not exist before.

Empathy

Every program element is designed from the student's perspective - their anxieties about clinical settings, financial constraints, and desire for a dignified career pathway. That is why we stand for human mentorship and emotional well-being support powered by digital scale.

Readiness support should not depend on the ability to pay. Our programs are free for underprivileged students, funded through partnerships and institutional support.

Excellence

We hold ourselves to rigorous, evidence-based standards—from curriculum design to mentor selection to outcome measurement.

We do not promise guaranteed placement. We promise employer-aligned preparation and transparent evaluation.

Our journey

From health and education support for students to a structured employability program—traced through key moments:

2012

Seeds in community health

Ekam Foundation begins healthcare outreach across India, encountering systemic gaps in the availability and affordability of healthcare for the underserved

2012

2015

Launched a Nurse Training Program in partnership with the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP) in FY 2015-16, where 100 nurses were trained in evidence-based paediatric critical care, life support and newborn resuscitation. This manifested year later in selecting our existing cohort of nursing students under the Unnati Scholarship program and offering them career guidance and mentorship opportunities through a structured mentoring program.

Healthcare support shaping our Education initiative

We launch our scholarship and education aid for students in financial need, especially for meritorious girls in education, aspiring for economic empowerment.

Understanding the need beyond aid

Establish a mentorship, personality development and career-counselling support program for our students, offered through both online and in-person sessions, that is designed to boost their personal growth and professional success.

2023

In collaboration with MRSI-TCP, Purple Audacity Research & Innovation and Ekam, extensive research was conducted to understand and assess the need and willingness for skills development among nurses and ward boys/girls in India. The findings highlighted the urgency of addressing technical, administrative, and soft skills gaps to ensure holistic patient care and the well-being of health care providers, beyond curative care. This research was the runner-up in The Community Project competition and served as a premise for conceptualising Numinous.

Parallely, Ekam’s structured mentoring and career-counselling support program named Ekam Saarthi launched with an aim to increase confidence, personal skills development, emotional well-being, better goal-setting and career readiness amongst students supported through our education programs.

The pattern becomes clear

Through repeated engagement with nursing graduates in our cohorts and hospital partners, Ekam identifies a consistent disconnect between academic performance and workplace confidence.

Ekam is recognised for its innovative digital solution capstone project on nurse upskilling at the ILSS Digital Transformation pitch-fest in December 2025, winning the Koita Foundation Tech Award to scale and implement its project, funded and mentored by the Koita Foundation itself.

Numinous is Incorporated in March.

The Numinous platform gets officially launched in August.
